## Conclusion
Installing a truck cap, topper or camper shell on a 4th Gen Toyota Tacoma can block the factory Digital Rearview Mirror camera and bed/cargo camera because both cameras are located around the factory third-brake-light area. On my Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter, the OPENROAD bed cap left the digital mirror looking at the cap, the bed camera looking at powder-coated steel, the cap third brake light disconnected, and the cap lighting still needing power.
In this video I show the problem and the finished solution. I use GG OFFROAD camera relocation harnesses and its inline Brake Light Wiring Tap, a second OEM Toyota camera assembly, and a removable Deutsch-style cap connection so I can restore the camera views and integrate the cap electronics without cutting or tapping into the factory brake-light wiring.
I also add a weather-resistant Deutsch-style quick disconnect for the cap’s brake-light, cargo-light/dome-light, and ground circuits so the cap can be disconnected without cutting wiring.
IN THIS VIDEO:
• GG OFFROAD Tacoma DRV + bed camera relocation
• Why a bed cap blocks the factory Tacoma camera views
• Keeping the original Toyota camera assembly intact
• Using a second OEM camera set from a donor third-brake-light assembly
• GG OFFROAD Brake Light Wiring Tap Cable
• Third brake light integration
• Factory cargo-light signal for cap dome lighting
• Deutsch-style removable electrical connector
• Camera cable routing and labeling
• Digital rearview-mirror camera test
• Bed/cargo camera test
• OPENROAD third brake-light test
• Dome-light integration test
• Reversible bed-cap wiring strategy
