I Was Just Hit With a Surprise $100 Fee

If you own a Toyota Tacoma Hybrid (Trailhunter, TRD Pro, Offroad, Sport, Limited etc.) in Tennessee… you NEED to see this. I just renewed my registration in East TN and got hit with a $100 hybrid fee, bringing my total to around $170.

Here’s how it breaks down:
~$20 goes to the state
The rest is local wheel tax
BUT Tennessee adds $100 just for hybrids

And here’s the problem…

The Tacoma hybrid isn’t about saving gas — it’s about power and torque.

You’re STILL buying gas. You’re STILL paying gas tax.

So now you’re paying:
👉 Gas tax at the pump
👉 AND a hybrid fee on top

That doesn’t make sense.

And when you look at what’s been happening in Tennessee lately… it raises even more questions.
